Professional nursing care is an important part of a patient’s recovery after coronary artery bypass grafting surgery and is a major challenge for medical staff. Early postoperative care is particularly important when the patient is unconscious, intubated, and completely dependent on advanced technology and the professional performance of the medical team. The aim of this study is to present a model of postoperative care including the most common complications occurring in patients immediately after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Using the PubMed databases, medical literature was analysed. The key words coronary artery bypass grafting, postoperative management, and nursing care were used as search criteria. Post-operative care after coronary artery bypass graft surgery is a challenge for medical staff. Further research should be undertaken in search of effective methods to prevent postoperative complications.
